The Dirtiest Kind of Kiss.....

I'm a very clean person, especially when it comes to Brooklyn. I vacuum everyday, if not at least every other day, my hands are often raw from washing them constantly, I have hand sanitizer in every room and in every bag I carry, and I spray everything in public, that might come in contact with Brooklyn, down with Clorox Everywhere Spray. I wouldn't call myself a neat freak, but I do keep things germ free the best I can. So, why did I let what's in the following video take place?? Because, this is the scene I often walk in on and I wanted to get it on video for the future. I could only allow 8 seconds of it and felt sick to my stomach after it was over. Unfortunately, this is the hard reality. Anytime Brooklyn sees Maddie (our dog) coming toward her she welcomes her with an open mouth kiss and Maddie happily accepts.

Why sleep?

Brooklyn thinks sleep is over rated. I cry with joy if she sleeps a 5 hour stretch. She's not one of those babies who can fall asleep anywhere. I've often seen those pictures of babies who fall asleep in their jumper, activity center, highchair, etc. I don't think I will ever have one of those shots of Brook. Today, however, she did fall asleep in a funny position. I risked waking her up to take a picture, knowing that this was a rare event....

First fight...

One of the reasons I started this blog was to document milestones or things I want to remember and have on record. Yesterday one of those things happened. Brooklyn and I had our first real fight. We were enjoying a lovely walk around the neighborhood. Brooklyn was wearing a cute pink hat to keep the sun off her bald head. About half way through the walk she decided she didn't want to wear the hat anymore. I disagreed. The fight was on. It took us about 20 minutes to get down one street. I kept having to stop to fight with my 9 month old daughter. She pitched a full on fit right in front of the fire station. Screaming, arching her back and hysterically crying, all while playing tug-o-war with me over the hat. Well at this point I realized that this wasn't about the hat anymore. It was a battle of wills and I knew I had to win. So needless to say, I WON! I never thought I'd be so excited about winning a fight with a baby. But I was:)

Play day with Kate

Today Kate came over to play while everyone was busy packing up the Jacobs' house. We thought Kate could use her own special day away from all the craziness.

Right away, I put her to work!

Don't worry, I rewarded her handsomely.

We dressed her up with makeup, glitter tattoos, and stick on jewels. She kept her eyes slightly closed for the pictures so we could all see her "beautiful makeup."

I told her to open her eyes so we could see how pretty she was.......

Fun day at Auntie B's!

I'm gonna try...

Well, I've decided to start a Blog. I have so much fun reading Shanna's (and all her friends) that I decided I'd give it a shot. For those of you who know me I'm not one with the words, but I'll do the best I can....
Curt and I have been married for over 5 years now and had our first baby, Brooklyn Alivia, last May. She has changed our lives completely. After she was born I left my job in the Miller Children's ICU where I worked as a RN and moved to pediatric home health. I work there once a week. I am so blessed to have a husband who
works so hard so I can be home with Brook. Curt is still working for Midcity's Electric. Then he comes home and works some more on our house, the never ending project!
So that pretty much sums it up.....Here are some pictures to sum up the last few months:)
